Freeway (Petey-D) DiLoreto
April 18, 2010 - March 3, 2020
It is with greyt sadness that I tell you our Freeway passed away on March 3rd. He passed into the next world with his head on my leg where he often rested his head. His beautiful golden eyes lovingly looked into mine, not saying goodbye, but “see-ya later.” I miss him with every breath I take and will for a very long time.
Freeway touched thousands of lives in his enormous ten years. Together we met so many people and hounds, all sharing the same loves and quests. He scars, often referred to as his Badges of Courage, attracted attention from strangers who because caught up in the greyhound world and recognized the breed as one of the best kept secrets in the dog adoption world. We would like to think there were more greyhound adoptions because of someone’s encounter with Freeway. He would hold his admirers in his gaze, casting his “spell” on them, sending them off to adopt a greyhound of their own.
Freeway’s Greyt Escape, Inc. has helped with the medical expenses for 42 injured greyhounds during Freeway’s life. Thousands of wonderful people helped in every way possible to make Freeway’s charity a worthy cause. We will never be able to thank each of you enough for the dedication, love and support through Freeway’s life. We will continue with his charity as long as possible.
Someone stated that Freeway is a Legend. He is. He was such an inspiration to so many, with his courage to survive and his determination to help his brothers and sisters in their time of need. He could not fight the cancer that attacked his body.
Our motto was RACE THE WIND….now you are the Wind. Rest in Peace sweet boy.
Love, Mom & Dad, Abby Rose and Brandi
And all who loved you
